As the labs committee, we are responsible for ensuring that all lab procedures are carried out safely and successfully. The Labs committee builds strong patient rapports while providing quality care blood draw services, pregnancy exams, urine screenings at the clinic site. The Labs committee is an integral component to the triage and assessment processes and we work in direct contact with medical students and physicians. This committee communicates with the interdisciplinary team about which diagnostic tests are ordered and assists in the process of obtaining specimens. This committee is clinically hands-on and undergraduates may assist in tasks such as: comforting and supporting patients, assembling lab instruments, and packaging patient specimens. From delegating clinic flow to centrifuging specimens, Labs volunteers see the journey of care and treatment that patients experience at RFC. Physicians and medical students interpret then these lab results in order to further develop the best possible plan for treating each and every patient.
